Let It Be

Little did I know, as Advent began, that it would have such a Beatles' theme - but there you have it.

When I find myself in times of trouble,
Mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom,
Let it be.

The Gospel of Luke gives us the beautiful story of Mary and the angel Gabriel . Mary's brave reply to the news of her impending pregnancy was "let it be with me according to your word." It's wise counsel on healthy, holy waiting. Here's a sermon about waiting.

The Gospel and John Lennon

The 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death had us all remembering - and imagining. So here at Faith, we read Imagine and listened to it as inspired writing. Here's the sermon that went with it. But before you read it, spend a little time with these words...

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.
